In our class Staying Focused… we are exploring the many elements of how we interpret and interact with our world. During the second class, we are learning the connection of “External Stimulus, Body Response, Body Chemistry and Early Childhood Decisions that become our Subconscious Automatic Response System to life. Here are a few reminders about some of this content.
- Emotions coordinate our behavior and physiological states during survival-salient events and pleasurable interactions. Even though we are often consciously aware of our current emotional state, such as anger or happiness, the mechanisms giving rise to these subjective sensations have remained unresolved. Here we used a topographical self-report tool to reveal that different emotional states are associated with topographically distinct and culturally universal bodily sensations; these sensations could underlie our conscious emotional experiences….

Next week we are learning about what the Mind really is, what it does and how it keeps us stuck. We are getting familiar with what keeps us in unconscious patterns and how to train our body and Mind to change those patterns.
